    DaVinci Resolve

    Recommended: ProRes 4444 (.mov)

    1. Download the ProRes file (or the PNG sequence if you prefer).
    2. In DaVinci: Media Pool → Right-click → Import Media → select the .mov file.
    3. For PNG sequence: Right-click → Import Media → select the first frame, DaVinci detects the sequence automatically.
    4. Drag the clip onto a track ABOVE your main video (e.g. Video 2).
    5. Alpha channel works instantly – no keying required.

    💡 DaVinci Resolve Free does NOT support WebM with alpha. Use ProRes 4444 or the PNG sequence instead.

    Adobe Premiere Pro

    Recommended: ProRes 4444 or WebM Transparent

    1. Download the ProRes or WebM file.
    2. In Premiere: File → Import → select the file.
    3. Drag from the project bin to a video track above your main footage.
    4. Transparency is detected automatically.

    Final Cut Pro

    Recommended: WebM Greenscreen

    2. In CapCut: Import the file and drag it onto an overlay track.
    3. Select the Chroma Key effect and click on the green color.
    4. Adjust tolerance and edge smoothing until only the text remains visible.

    💡 Most mobile apps and older programs cannot handle alpha – greenscreen is the best choice here.

    What video formats are supported?

    OverlayGenerator supports four export formats: ProRes 4444 (.mov) – the pro codec with alpha channel, ideal for DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro. PNG sequence with transparency for maximum quality. WebM with alpha channel as a small file whose import depends on app and version (test first). WebM with greenscreenfor editors without alpha import, keyed via chroma key (e.g. CapCut).

    Which format should I choose for DaVinci Resolve?

    For DaVinci Resolve (Free and Studio) we recommend ProRes 4444 – top quality, alpha channel, and a pro codec. The PNG sequence works great too. WebM with alpha channel is not supported by DaVinci Resolve Free – use ProRes or the WebM greenscreen variant in that case.

    What's the difference between ProRes 4444 and a PNG sequence?

    Both deliver lossless quality with an alpha channel. ProRes 4444 is a single .mov file – easier to handle and ready to use in DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro. The PNG sequence is a ZIP of single frames – slightly more cumbersome to import but very dependable. ProRes export takes a bit longer because the encoding happens directly in your browser.
